In a election between two candidate 10% of votes were invalid winner got 70% of valid votes and was elected by a majority of 900 votes. find the total number of votes?

1500
900
2500
None of these
Explanation:

If total votes =x, then valid votes= 90% of x = 0.9x

Winner`s vote=70% of valid votes=0.7 $\times$ 0.9x=0.63x

So, loser`s vote=30% of valid vote=0.3 $\times$ 0.9x=0.27x

As difference in votes of these candidates=majority,

So, 0.63x -0.27x = 900

=> x = 900/0.36 = 2500.
